Peterson trial - CourtTV's website and blog

In case you don't get enough of it from the news media, the Peterson trial is extensively covered, analyzed, dissected, editorialized, commented upon and otherwise reported about on the CourtTV Peterson site. That link is to the jury blog itself but there are many links in the sidebar.

All about words

We lawyers and judges are "wordsmiths" by training and trade. Words are important and how they are used can be quite interesting. Even in legal briefs. Why are those called "briefs" anyway? Oh, but I digress.

News Aggregation

If you are a news junkie, legal news or otherwise, you need to read this.

News aggregation is the use of an online software tool to gather news items in one place. Most portals (e.g. Yahoo and the like) do some degree of pulling together various news sources and placing them on a single page.

However, there is a better way to do it. Actually a couple of ways.

One way is to have a web page on which 'newsfeeds' can be aggregated. That was formerly done on this site but when nobody ever looked at it, I moved all of my feeds to my personal site.

Brief Recess Friday for the State Funeral of Pres. Ronald Reagan

On Friday, June 11, during the State Funeral of Pres. Ronald Reagan, 40th President of the United States of America, court in Burnet will recess from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. All settings in Blanco County have been rescheduled. This recess will occur commencing at the time (9:30 a.m. Eastern) that the national funeral service begins at the Washington National Cathedral and will continue until that service is expected to be concluded. It is fitting that we should suspend our official proceedings at this time out of respect for a president who was so truly principle-centered and dedicated to this country.

But not for long.

Rain Trip

Was supposed to be in a jury trial in Blanco County today so Eva scheduled an 8:30a.m. prove-up on an agreed adult guardianship. The jury docket folded but we had to hold to the early setting which would not have been too bad except that there was a cold rain falling.

Finished that, considered a search and arrest warrant for local law enforcement, on to Burnet for a bit of office work and then the afternoon on the bench. Several uncontested/agreed matters, another arrest warrant, two TROs and a temporary hearing on a triangular custody case but more on that elsewhere. A pretty standard day of variety. That's a good thing.
