Rules, Local Practices and Standing Orders

This section will organize all contents of the website that relate to official rules (both existing and proposed), local practices and customs, and all standing orders of the district courts for the counties of Blanco, Burnet, Llano and San Saba, which are the 33rd and 424th Judicial Districts.

Court's Fiat and Notice of Intent to Dismiss -- how to retain

Received the Court's [Universal DWOP Fiat and Notice of Intent to Dismiss]? This notice is sent on a sua sponte basis when the Clerk, Administrator or Judge happen across a case that appears to be aging excessively or is otherwise languishing. It may be used for various purposes as set forth below.

Notice of Intent to Dismiss on Dismissal Docket

In each county of the district a dismissal docket is held approximately every six months. Cases exceeding a certain age and not apparently having current activity will be placed on that docket.

Dismissal Dockets -- getting your case retained

Have you received a notice of intent to dismiss on a dismissal docket? Or have you received the Court's [Universal DWOP Fiat and Notice of Intent to Dismiss]?

In either event it will be essential for you to take specific steps in a timely manner or your case may be dismissed without further notice. Depending on which notice you received your procedures may be slightly different.

Appointed Attorney Pay Vouchers

Please have them prepared and submit to the Court at the time a plea is entered or any other disposition is made of the case other than from a jury trial.

Saving Court Time

In a brief talk with the Highland Lakes Bar Association gathering at its October meeting I mentioned a few things that I felt would help save time in court without causing much pain on the part of trial counsel.
These thoughts are presented in an attempt to avoid two problems:
(1) Wasted time during a court day, and
(2) Wasted court days.
