In case you don't get enough of it from the news media, the Peterson trial is extensively covered, analyzed, dissected, editorialized, commented upon and otherwise reported about on the CourtTV Peterson site. That link is to the jury blog itself but there are many links in the sidebar.
While it is (in my not so humble opinion) plain nuts that the case should take so long to try (please forget this comment the first time I have a trial of that length), there are some interesting legal aspects. Take a look at these.
The issue of fetal homicide, i.e. when a fetus dies as a result of an assault of the mother is it murder? We know the answer in Texas but it is highly controversial across the country. The CourtTVÂ article is a fairly decent layman's review of the issue.
Another interest section is the battle for evidence. There were a number of items attempted to be suppressed (all of which were admitted): GPS Data, tracking dogs, hypnotized witness, wiretaps, and Mitochondrial DNA.
Lastly, read about what the jury did not hear.
