Email Lists
Christine Delmas kindly forwarded some major news about new CLE and research tools on the http://texasbarcle.com/ site. In this article I will repeat all of that for the benefit of those who might not be on the Yahoo Groups email list and for the continued edification of those who are. Note: The links below may not work unless you are logged into the bar site.
The main text was:
With its powerful, revamped website, TexasBarCLE—the foremost CLE provider in the state—is proud to offer a wealth of new resources to help you stay competitive, efficient, and up-to-date.
TWO NEW FREE ONLINE benefits for course registrants:
ONE: We videotape nearly every live course we present. As an added benefit of attending our live or video replay seminars, you may now review online classes from
programs you attendedfor free. If you missed one of the talks live, this is a way to watch it online later for participatory MCLE credit.
TWO: You may also view online or download CLE articles from seminars you attend. With 5,000 articles (and counting), the Online Library can jumpstart your research into almost any area of
Texas jurisprudence.
NEW: Powerful Legal Research Tools
TexasBarCLE has installed "Casemaker," a powerful legal research tool. Casemaker expands the present free research to Texas cases back to 1929, Texas statutes, and recent Fifth Circuit
materials as well, and it provides a search engine that offers two useful services. First, the "CaseCheck" feature allows one to check the subsequent history of a case by instant click-through to all Texas cases citing the one under scrutiny. Second, word searches of cases and statutes are made much more inclusive by an "expanded thesaurus" feature that searches synonyms as well as the specific words of the search. Soon we will provide links to cases and
statutes that are cited in TexasBarCLE articles and practice manuals that the user accesses online. Click on the citation to a case or statute and be taken there immediately. No other state bar has such a service. Finally, the Bar will offer new libraries of online materials to be searched for a nominal charge, including federal materials, municipal codes of Texas cities, Texas administrative decisions, the law of selected other states, and more.
NEW & FREE: Daily Posting of New Opinions
To keep you informed, we add new cases from the Texas Supreme Court, Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, and the Appellate Courts to our database within 24 hours after they are handed down.
NEW & FREE: Case Alerts for Practice Areas You Specify
You can choose to be alerted whenever a new case matches the preferences you set. New alerts are generated automatically each evening. View the alerts
when you visit our site, or receive case alerts via e-mail (an option to become available in the near future).
NEW & FREE: Ratings and Commentary Regarding Case Digests
Share your views: rate the significance of a case and comment on it online. View the ratings and comments of other attorneys. Never miss another
important Texas case!
