Email Lists
This is a "Content Management System" or CMS for short. In contrast to the usual web site such as the conventional court site the CMS is truly designed for managing the content.
What's content? Just look at the menu across the top of the page. Each of those is a link to a type of content. The best way to check it out is to let your mouse do the walking and you do some clicking.
And management of the content is shared in an interactive manner. Most content has the ability for comments to be made to the item and even comments to the comments. That could get out of hand in a hurry!
In addition do discussing items via comments you, the user, can also add content.
But part of content "management" is in being able to know what is there. This is accomplished in several ways. One is to use the SEARCH box (upper right corner of the page). Just a few relevant words (no booleans) will usually find what you are looking for.
Other ways are to be subscribed to content and to also turn on the "notification" function. When you signed up for this site you received an email that suggested two things:
-- that you click the box in your user settings to subscribe and be notified about comments to anything you post or comment upon, and
-- that you turn on the my notify settings which gives you an email every time new content is posted.
See Content Change Monitoring (below) for more details on how to monitor content.
Additionally, if you are a subscriber to the 33rdCourt Yahoo Groups email list you will also see the results of the "my notify" process. It has been set up so that the Yahoo group is a member (artificially so) of this CMS site and it gets all notifications. Thus, if you are a member of that email list you probably don't need to turn on your individual notification but will still want to enable the automatic subscription process.
