Jury Service Postponement

It is possible to have your jury service postponed to a future date.  You will find a link below by which you can make that request via email if this is your first request.  If you have already requested a postponement from your date, you must contact the clerk's office directly.

Effective September 1, 2005, Chapter 62, Section 62.0142 of the Texas Government Code allows a person summoned for jury service to request a postponement of the person’s first appearance for jury service as long as the person has not been granted a postponement in the one-year preceding the date on which the person is summoned to appear.  The postponement cannot be for more than six months.

Here is how it works:  your email will be answered with a new date.  You may request a specific date and you can determine the next few dates by referring to the jury status page.

IMPORTANT NOTE!
If any of the following are true, you must call the District Clerk's office directly.

  1. Your address has changed.
  2. The information on your Jury Summons is incorrect.
  3. You have already received a previous postponement. Subsequent postponements can only be requested because of an extreme emergency that could not have been anticipated, such as a death in the person’s family, sudden serious illness suffered by the person, or natural disaster or national emergency in which the person is personally involved. Chapter 62, Section 62.0142 Texas Government Code.
