The Court allows settings to be requested in either the conventional way of contacting the Court Administrator or, preferably, via this web site. This section of documentation will explain both methods.
The visiting judge crisis (lack thereof) has again loomed large for us. The master schedule is being revised and you should see the major revisions be the end of the day on 12/17/04. The purpose of this note in the online forum is to (a) advise you of the changes that we believe need to be made to try to cope, and (b) to get your reactions and alternative suggestions. As always, I am open to ideas from the practicing bar.

I watched part of a hearing this morning in Llano which even further convinced me that using setting notices, instead of setting orders, is a really bad idea.
I'd like some feedback on this notion. What experience have others had? Suggestion? Alternate ideas from your practice in other jurisdictions?
On the top menu you will finds "calendar" and "settings" links. "Calendar" opens the court's master calendar in a new web page.

Once you have the date or range of dates that have either been cleared with other counsel or after a genuine attempt to confer first, you open the form and make the request. Look for the link under the "Online Setting Request" menu at the left.
The first step is to check the online web calendar for available dates. A master setting calendar is maintained that is keep updated at least nine months in advance at all times, for both the 33rd and 424th district courts.
There is now also an online system (see below) to check possible dates and to request a setting via email. This is the preferred method as it is the most efficient for both counsel and the CA. This involves:
The confirmation email from the CA serves as the setting notice and is filed in the Clerk's office. The only additional step you will have is to fax a copy of the confirming email to any side that does not have email.
The web-based master settings calendar is now fully implemented and the online setting request form is available to request any type of setting.
