Burnet County Family Law Filing -- District vs. County Court-at-Law (CCL)
The judges of the two courts have adopted a joint administrative order for the division of cases falling under the family code.
The essential part of the text is here. The essence of the division is that all divorce and SAPCR cases have been transferred to (and new ones will be filed in) the CCL except those that Judge Jones has already begun hearing.
If you find that a case is docketed in the CCL and you feel it should be in District, contact the District Court Administrator.
Miscellaneous Rulings of Possible Interest
These are in the form of a "Blog" -- i.e. a Web Log. It's a collection of selected rulings on cases where the Court's discretion was applied or where an interpretation of law was made that may be of interest to attorneys in other cases. Many judges don't share their logic in rulings but it is my hope that the sharing of this information may be of assistance to lawyers in the future as they appear before the bench. It is possible to leave a comment on any entry and the entries are divided into categories.
